My hedge trimmer is not working

If your hedge trimmer is not working, please run through the following procedures:

  • Ensure that the blade has not become jammed
  • Ensure that the charger is fully inserted into the mains socket and that the mains socket is switched on
  • Check the battery is fully charged, please charge for 3 hours and try the trimmer again.
  • Check the charger is working correctly. After a sustained period of charging it should be warm to the touch
  • Check that the safety switch in the handle is operating correctly. If you hear a 'click' when pressed then the handle should be working correctly.

If after these checks your hedge trimmer is still not working, please call our customer service team on 01905 345891 and they will be happy to talk you through your problem.

How should I dispose of my hedge trimmer?

At the end of its life, please do not dispose of your hedge trimmer with the general household waste. Please consider the environment and take it to a recognised recycling facility. For more information about recycling schemes in your area, contact your local council, civic amenity site, recycling centre or visit www.recycle-more.co.uk for information on recycling and where to find your nearest recycling facility.

My hedge trimmer head will not rotate

All Gtech hedge trimmers have a rotating head to make cutting a hedge that much easier. If, in the unlikely event that this mechanism stops working, one of your gears may have slipped. To check for this, please follow the following procedure:

  • Undo the 4 screws that attach the blade to the head and remove the blade
  • In the head there will be 2 bolts that fit into two holes, if one or more of them have come loose simply reattach them and screw the blade back into place
  • Your hedge trimmer should now work as before

If this solution does not manage to solve your problem, please contact our customer service team on 01905 345891 and they will be happy to help you with your problem.

My hedge trimmers cutting time is short

If your hedge trimmer is providing a shorter cutting time than is indicated on the box or in the manual please run through the following checks

  • Ensure that the battery is being fully charged before you are commencing cutting your hedge
  • Lubricate the blade as this can have a significant impact on the run time of the product
  • Check that the blade is not damaged or worn in any way
  • Ensure that you are not overloading the motor. Cutting through branches that are thicker than the product was designed for will significantly reduce run time and you may damage the motor inside your product

If your hedge trimmer still delivers a shorter run time, please contact our customer service team on 01905 345891 and they will be happy to help you with your problem.

What about storing the battery?

To prolong your battery life and run time, please follow the following tips when storing your battery

  • Before using the product for the first time, fullly charge the battery for 12 hours, this will prolong battery life
  • Never leave your battery stored uncharged for long periods of time, as this will damage the battery memory
  • Always store the battery in a cool dry place, and NEVER in direct sunlight
